Internship Placements in Panda Conservation Project

Pandas during panda conservation project

Giant Pandas are endangered species in world with an estimated number of only a 1000 pandas remaining, due to industrialization, poaching and low panda birth rates. Helping Abroad partners with Ya’an Panda Conservation Center to provide internship opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and environmentalists.

Interns in the Panda Conservation Project will basically be involved in basic care of the pandas (feeding, bathing, providing water, cleaning enclosure) and observing /documenting their behavior. They can also get involved in health related activities like physical examinations, artificial inseminations and birth. Overall, the interns will be working to take care of the pandas in the conservation program to decrease its chances of becoming extinct and increase its population in the long run.

Internship in the Panda Conservation Project is highly recommended to those who are interested in a career on wildlife conservation. Through this program, interns will get an opportunity to interact with this rare wild animal and help in its conservation and repopulation.

Educational Requirements and Project Skills

Interns are not required to fulfill any kind of educational requirement or skill to enroll in this project, but they should be compassionate towards animals and should possess an interest in wildlife conservation.

Internship Placements to Teach English in Schools

Teaching internship in China

With the motive of improving conversational and comprehensive English of Chinese students, we offer internship placement in schools where interns will teach English as part of their internship program. Considering the growing demand of English language in China, this program is excellent for interns who want to acquire their internship experience abroad as well as explore and experience a fascinating and entirely new culture.

Interns in this program will teach English in schools whereby young Chinese students will have the opportunity to learn this all important language which is a must in this rapidly booming country. They will also be assisting the English teachers with coursework and lessons. They can also work with the local teachers on curriculum development and work for the smooth functioning of the school.

The interns, who take part in the Internship program to teach English in schools, will get a good exposure to teaching English and a strong base for teaching in a challenging environment, if teaching is the career s/he is interested to carry forward. It is also a wonderful opportunity to travel to this exotic land and experience a whole new culture and tradition.

Education Requirements and Project Skills:

This project does not require the intern to be an experienced and educationally qualified teacher. Native speakers are highly preferred, however, non native speakers can also intern, if they have fluency in English. Patience and the passion to teach children are preferable qualities for this internship program.

Supervision and Field Support

While working as an intern in China, your internship project is supervised and guided by experienced and qualified supervisors. In most of the cases, the head of the project will serve as your supervisor of your internship program. The supervisors are experts in their respective areas where they will help you with any problem you have and guide you professionally till the completion of the project. Depending on your qualification and time allocated for you project, you might need to pay an additional fee of $25-$50 per week to supervisors. Please communicate with our office or our country coordinator if you need personal supervision to help you in your completion of your internship project.

College credit for internship project in China

Helping Abroad does not provide college credit in our internship projects. Our local office or your supervisor will provide you with a letter and certificate on the completion of your program verifying your work as an intern and your job responsibilities as an intern. If you need college credit for your internship, please contact your own university or college. You can also talk to your professors.

Room and Food

Interns in China will be staying at the home base located in a safe and clean neighborhood with easy accessibility to internet cafes, supermarkets, restaurants and bus stops. There are several bedrooms in the home base, which may be shared with a same-gender intern, and community areas. There is a shared kitchen, television and shared bathrooms, which have running water and “western-style” toilets. Interns for the panda conservation project will stay in an economy hotel. When the hostel is fully occupied, interns may stay with a host family.

Interns will be provided with meals three times a day (local Chinese food).However, other snacks and drinks outside the meal times will not be included. Interns can also be arranged with vegetarian food, however, it should be notified during the application.

Specific details regarding accommodations, food and contact details of the local coordinator and the supervisor will be provided in a personalized internship placement document prior to your arrival.

Free Time

Internship does not require interns to get involved in work 24/7. They will have free time in their hands during the evenings and during weekends, which they can use for interacting with other interns and visiting local areas nearby.
